The Hope for a Third Season of "Boku no Kokoro"

Hey everyone, we're back with again discussing the potential for a third season of "Boku no Kokoro."

Many are eagerly awaiting news on whether there will be a continuation after the second season. Unfortunately, it might be a bit complicated, and I'll explain why.

So, "Boku no KoKoro" tells the story of a boy who was a bit withdrawn in class, with some peculiar thoughts and behaviors, until he realizes he's in love with a girl in his class. This realization prompts him to gradually change for the better.

One of the coolest aspects of the story is witnessing his transformation and self-reflection on how he has changed and matured after falling in love with her. Their relationship is adorable, with many beautiful scenes throughout the second season.

Each episode is marked by memorable scenes and fantastic storytelling. They really delivered the development many fans were hoping for. The anticipation for more is palpable, as viewers eagerly await to see more of this couple.

However, the chances of a third season seem uncertain due to the lack of source material. While the anime has enjoyed significant success in the West, it hasn't reached mega-hit status. Nonetheless, it has garnered a relatively large following and gained popularity over time, starting off somewhat overlooked but gradually rising in popularity during the second season.

The enthusiasm for "Boku no Kokoro" has only increased, with the show dominating various voting sites. People are truly loving it. I believe its romantic comedy aspect is one of its highest-rated features on anime lists. It's truly fantastic to see how much the audience adored the second season.

It's safe to say that the majority of Western viewers who watched it genuinely loved it. There are very few negative comments or dislikes. The characters are charming, and the story is well-directed and beautifully animated.
While Blu-ray and DVD sales were moderate, these numbers aren't considered bad in today's market. In the past, they might not have been significant, but nowadays, with fewer people purchasing physical media, even in Japan, where anime sales used to thrive, the landscape is changing.

As for the manga, there hasn't been a significant increase in sales, according to weekly rankings. Overall, the data isn't particularly encouraging.

Despite this, when the second season was announced, it wasn't entirely surprising. It seemed like it was already in the works. The show consistently ranked well, and there was even speculation about a potential third season.

In terms of popularity, quality, and other factors, "Boku no Kokoro" seems to hold its ground well. While the metrics might not be extraordinary, they're still respectable. So, the possibility of a third season isn't entirely out of reach.

In today's anime landscape, it's become much easier to greenlight new seasons, even for shows that might not have been widely watched. Sometimes, it's because the story was planned from the beginning to have multiple parts. Other times, it's simply because there's a scarcity of source material, and Japanese producers are eager to churn out more content each year, even resorting to adapting older works or giving continuations to series that weren't particularly popular.

However, "Boku no Kokoro" faces a unique challenge: its limited source material. The second season utilized material up to Chapter 103 of the original manga, covering chapters 56 to 113. On average, each season adapts around 55 chapters. So, to have a third season, we'd need roughly 55 to 60 more chapters.

As of the making of this article, the manga has reached Chapter 140. This means there's only enough material for about half of another season. It would take reaching around Chapter 170 to accumulate sufficient material for a new season. However, even then, production would take time. Starting from writing scripts to actual animation, it could easily take one to two years to see a new season come to fruition.
So, while the potential for a third season exists, it's clear that it's not a short-term possibility. It would require patience from fans and possibly a few more years of waiting before we could see more of "Boku no Kokoro" on screen.

In theory, the wait for a third season of "Boku no Kokoro" could be lengthy. There's a possibility, although not guaranteed, that the author might have plans on how to conclude the story, possibly within a third season. However, there's also the chance that the author might not intend to continue the manga for much longer, perhaps after reaching a certain chapter count.

The story continues beyond the events of the second season, with further progressions that fans would love to see animated. But without knowing the author's long-term plans, it's uncertain whether enough material will be available for a third season.

One scenario could involve the author providing early drafts or outlines of future chapters to the production staff, allowing them to create a third season based on this advanced material. However, this approach isn't guaranteed, and it relies heavily on the author's intentions.

Alternatively, there's the risk of announcing a third season without sufficient material, resulting in years of delays, as seen with other anime series in the past. In such cases, the announcement doesn't necessarily indicate an imminent release date.

Realistically, if a third season were to happen, it could still be a few years away. Unless the author has already provided advanced material to the staff, it's unlikely to see a swift release.

In any case, "Boku no Kokoro" has been an enjoyable anime, and I'm grateful for the experience it has provided so far. Let's hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed for more adventures in the future.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding the potential for a third season of "Boku no Kokoro," there's still reason for optimism. The anime has made significant strides, and while we may have to wait some time, there's hope on the horizon.

For those eager to continue the story, the manga offers a way forward, with the narrative extending beyond where the anime concluded. With the story currently at Chapter 114, there's ample material for fans to explore while we wait for any news of a third season.

Looking ahead, we can only hope that in the coming years, a third season will materialize. The success of the series both in the West and in Japan bodes well for its future prospects. With Japanese producers increasingly considering international reception, there's a decent chance that a continuation may be greenlit.

While the wait may be long, we can take comfort in the fantastic work done by the staff behind the first two seasons. Their dedication and craftsmanship have brought the world of "Boku no Kokoro" to life in spectacular fashion.

As we eagerly anticipate any updates or announcements, rest assured that I'll be here to share any news with you. In the meantime, if you enjoyed this post, don't follow on Facebook, share it with your friends.

Thank you for reading, and until next time, take care!
